hamster feeding guide

Hamsters are nice, little rodents that children like to keep as pets. Their sizes and appearance vary depending on their specie. Some hamsters are small and short coats while others are bigger and have longer coats.
People like hamsters because of their aesthetic appeal. Caring for them is another story.

Hamster feeding guides will usually suggest that you feed your pet with the basic hamster mix. A basic hamster mix commonly contains a variety of grains that are eaten by hamsters. Among these grains are seeds such as those coming from sunflower and millet. Nuts such are also included in some commercial mixes. Grains included in basic mixes are wheat, maize, beans and pellets. There are also ingredients mixed in that are hard. This is a little treat for your rodents as hamsters enjoy gnawing.
If you find the basic mix insufficient for your hamster’s needs, you may include a few ingredients in it. You may add some fresh fruits such as apples and pears. Fresh vegetables such as carrots, broccoli and cauliflower are also a nice treat for your pet. Just be sure that you cut them into small pieces so your pet can chew on it easily.
There are also foods that you must not give your hamster. For example, do not give your hamster table scraps. Foods that have sharp textures must be avoided as it may cause injury to your pet’s insides. Oily foods might also lead to obesity. Other foods that are not so hamster friendly are chocolates, garlic and buttercup.
