snake feeding guide
Feeding your snake is easy if you know what kind of snake are you feeding and which food to feed.
Generally, any snake feeding guide will tell you determine first what kind of snake you are feeding. Was it a snake captured from the wild? Or was it a snake born in captivity? Such distinction is important as the feed that must be given will be dependent on it.
If captured from the wild, you may feed your snake live rodents such as rats and chickens. This is because the snake, while living in the wild, had experience hunting. There are slim chances that the snake may acquire injuries from live preys.
If born in captivity, the chances are the snake is used on feeding in raw meat. If fed with live prey, he may acquire scratches and rodent bites. Worse, your snake may end up in trauma.

It is important that you feed your snake on a regular basis. When snakes are not fed for a long time, your next feeding time will require utmost caution. Snakes become aggressive when hungry and may attack almost anyone—including its owner.
There are also specific dietary requirements when it comes to certain types of snake. For example, snakes such as garter snakes, ribbon snakes and water snakes eat fishes, frogs, earthworms and salamanders. Boas and pythons eat lizards and mammals. Racers, vine snakes and coach whips eat lizards, mice, crickets and grasshoppers. Indigo snakes may eat anything when hungry but primarily consume frogs.
